my mate as a gsi turbo with 52k on the clock and we were talking 2day because someone told him 2 get the turbo changed at 60k because they are know 4 going the car is mint FSH and the car dont really have a hard life what you guys think? he said he was going 2 ring vauxhall but ive not spoke 2 him yet

if there is no signs of it failing or being on its way out i wouldnt worry about it.

i told him dont spend money on something that is working fine how long does a turbo last? all down 2 how hard you drive i guess

it should last the life of the car under normal conditions ... weather it will only time will tell

he dont really give it a hard life just something he as got in his head now and he doin 350miles next weekend and talking like it will go then lol

If he wants to do it for peace of mind it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

But to me it just sounds like someone without a clue causing unjust concern.

theres no reason it will go unless he/you have a reason, like previously said dont worry if theres no signs, mines on 57k and works fine....

i "read" about astra turbo's failing at 50-60k...

but the is no point in changing something that isnt broken..

my mate just rang spoke 2 vaux told him been known to go around 50-60k like daymoon just put but also have a few at 80-90k so sounds like they can go any time but they told him if he wants it done have a vxr turbo put on

Dont fix it until it's broke

And it will not just go, it will go slowly if the car is not abused. Until he see smoke or has no boost...dont worry

Obviously if you ring Vauxhall and ask them if you should or shouldn't spend £1000's they're going to tell you to go ahead. Then laugh all the way to the bank.

if it goes to its not as if it causes more damage to other parts its not like a chain reaction if it fails
