Mines OK to live with, but it does live towards the top end of the revs.
XE's are fun, but you know you have something that will surprise people. This cause's problems when you past things that you technically shouldn't be in a "Corsa" and quick driving is required 
Its not all plain sailing though - remember its a 15+ year old engine, and it does require attention.

they are easy to live with, ind filters make the engine quite loud, but i like that, i do have fairly quiet zorst full piper with janspeed sportcat, so not silly loud.........
like previously said they are great have loads of torque, can keep in 5th gear on long sweeping bends down from 20mph maybe right upto 90+mph without changing gear and it pulls lovely, but they are revvy and have an aggressive power delivery so does make you tempted to just rag it but just dont less the times right can be sensible
relaibility once again as previously mentioned ive had mine maybe 3 years and before i took it off the road was revving it on limiter everyday for 3 years and it just takes it they are indestructable well mine is lol have replaced 2 sensors in 3 years, air flow meter and knock sensor

Mine's been in 2 years next month. It's done 20k in that time. Used a few CV boots and munched a waterpump, so had to replace that early.
Other than that it's good as gold. Warm it up and change the oil regularly and it will be fine.
Mine does 260 miles to a tank of mixed ragging it and commuting. You'll get through tyres and brakes faster than a normal car though 
Insurance is cheaper than you think with Brentacre too

Thanks for the advice, just waiting on the owner getting back to me. Only thing that's putting me off is insurance but I need to phone about.

Guess you'd only actually be using about 40L before refuelling. So that's 8.81 gallons.
That's an average of 29.5mpg
That's quite low! But I suppose if it's part-spirited driving then might not be too bad if taken easily.
My 1.2 8v gets just short of 47mpg. Which equates to over 400 miles to a tank.

That is the most economical 1.2 8v I've ever heard of. My one was lucky to be getting 30mpg!!!

It's all fairly fast long journeys tbh. So I can be sat in the most economical bit.
I reckon I could squeeze more than 400miles to a tank too.

Proberly a lot better than a LET is to live with.
Wouldnt mind an xe tbh a lot less complicated than a LET too so even I could proberly fix things on it haha

I spoke to a local chap a while ago, had corsa kitted up gsi style with a c20let, tensioners slipped a few times causing full engine rebuilds a few times.
So in the mean time, bang a xe in, took a matter of hours to get him about, and he much preferd it. Said good on fuel, puts its power down, and doesnt spin up in 4th gear when its damp, takes death, and proabably just as quick as the let unless on a complete straight road, as he said too much wheel spin knocking about town and the local carridge ways!
