Bit of an odd one here, but my sister is getting weird text off someone all the time, mentioning her, her husband, her son, and even my mum. So it must be someone that knows our family, but they send ones like ''are you having a nice time out with bev'' bev is my mum, and they sent this when my mum and sister went shopping, like they were watching them

Thing is my sisters husband works away quite a bit, so sometimes shes by herself when they text and it scares the shit out of her.

All i know so far is its an o2 number, and was bought 2 months ago, and hasnt been topped up since (its payg btw) so i have a feeling they have bought a simcard with a £10 credit, just to text my sister, we have tried ringing it off all different mobiles, and landlines, but never answers, so i think they have bought the number just to text my sister, and not given it to no one else, so they no not to answer.

Just wondering if anyone could trace where the phone is/who it belongs to etc. Number 07521 066 386

I know this is general chat, but thought more people would see it on here, cheers for any help.

have you looked for a phone tracing company on google?
or she could just dump the sim card and get a new number.

02 are useless with things like this, as are most networks. They will want a month long log of texts and calls before they even take the time to investigate it, and they wouldn't even block the number in the mean time.

Go to the police, explain the situation and show them the texts. then surely they will be able to trace the number then go and start questioning them as its harassment

If she hasn't already, your sister needs to report this to the police, as it is considered "harrasment":

quote:

If you receive two or more nuisance e-mails/texts that are non violent in nature, this could amount to an offence of harassment (defined below). The word "harassment" does not have a legal definition, but the words alarm, distress or torment are the best words used to describe it. The incidents must be related and must not be two isolated incidents. The further apart the incidents are, the less likely there is to be an offence of harassment. However, all the circumstances of the incident will be taken into account when determining if an offence has been committed. The law takes into account the "reasonable person" test. Basically this means that if it was felt that a person of reasonable firmness (i.e. the average person on the street) would not be alarmed or distressed, the offence is not committed. The offender must also be aware that the course of conduct they are pursuing would cause the victim to alarmed or distressed.

Someone with a Leeds accent should phone the number and leave a voicemail pretending to be PC Jenkins, to which you have had numerous reports of harrassment from this mobile.

Stop or it will be taken further etc

No its not. But My gf used to get prank calls all the time and they knew who she was etc. She'd always answer the phone to them etc and it carried on.

I told her to ignore the calls and texts, and they finally went away.

The person is obviously a coward by hiding behing these prank call and I wouldn't think they haven't got the balls to confront your sister physically.

I would not worry about it too much unless this person confronts your sister face to face. Or starts texting with very detailed messages with stuff they wouldn't know unless they had entered your property etc.

The amount people give away about what they're up to is surprising. Facebook, friends chatting gossiping etc. Only takes a prying ear to learn about what people are up to. Or even reading someones phone when left about.
