nationwide if you use it abroad imo. they dont charge for overseas transactions unless the hole in the wall itself charges you.

Currently with Barclays, in the 14years i've been with them i haven't had a single problem, even gave me an intersted free overdraft when i went overdrawn.
They don't offer switch cards (youy mean mestro now?) though, only Visa Debits (which can be used pretty much anywhere in the world). They offer cheque books and savings accounts aswell but i have neither of these.
Had a student account with Natwest, no end of problems - was threaten by some penis in their accounts department, saying he would give me bad credit (which he did but i managed to get it taken off) if i didn't pay the £300 odd i was overdrawn (interest free mind) there and then on the phone (by law i don't have to) and wouldn't accept me walking into my local branch to pay it off (which i did the next day with no problems). They also never gave me the student rail card when opening the account. Had a few other problems as well.
edit - transactions overseas depend on the ATM machine, always been free with my barclays debit card. Although you're usually charged if you take cash out on a credit card.

I left HSBC after 8 years when I was a victim of credit card fraud and their way of dealing with it, or should I say lack of care of dealing with it was enough for me.
I've been with Halifax for 2 years and had no problems. Online banking is superb.
