My mate was selling a cheap bmw 325i, great i thought, same insurance group as my astra, half the price, reliable motoring and il be able to keep it forever - so i bought it - spent a couple of days cleaning it up. bish bosh

rung insurance (highway via flux) and they wont cover me on anything over a 320 (WTF) its the same group as my astra and not even modified! Id have to start a new policy for twice the price of my astra (Again, WTF!) but to kick me while im down, highway cover my mate whos nearly 2 years younger then me on a m3 and he lives 2mins away

Now im 6 months into currently policy, i dont wana loose 6months no claims as in 6months il have 4 and be able to protect it + insure my impreza at last! besides il never be able to buy time back + im already 1 year behind on ncb as i didnt get a car til i was 18...so...

How teh fook can i insure this car to knock about in, everywhere is quoting me 1800 for it without my NCB - obviously cant use NCB twice as its on my policy for the astra - mums insurance is outta the question as shes with the worst insurance company ever and quoted me £3000 on her policy! (which got me thinking how do people get cheap insurance via their parents)

Sooo wound up, dont really wana sell it as it was a bargain and hardly any cars are selling with the recession!

Suggestions welcome

Phone round lots of companies, if not it just sounds like you are going to sell it. If it was a bargain then you can make some profit on it.

They arent cheap to insure. I found it where £400 cheaper in insure a new (p reg) 323 than it was a older 325 desipite having same capacity and power engine! Then when i question they wouldnt insure me on the 325 at all but were happy on the 323 coupe

Get third party cover on any car cover, transfer the BMW into your mums name and get her to insure it for the most basic policy.

You still need a policy which allows you to drive any other car 3rd party and most require you to be over 25
