MCITP - didn't see the point in going for server 2003 as it is starting to be phased out.

Now we're getting somewhere.
What does it enable the person who has it to do, that they couldn't before?

Usually nothing. Just looks good on the CV.

Why? I'm not saying they aren't worth having. I'm just saying that most people that get them already have most of the knowledge and just want a qualification to prove it.

Indeed. Just looks good when we go out and sell products to customers.

It helps a lot to get that sort of job, there are loads of jobs you need an MCSE to get a look in atm whether you have the knowledge or not.

Got sent on a course after i had a little moan i hadn't had the training they said they were going to provide. Realised it would take me 5 years if i waited for work - no joke either, possibly even longer as some of the exams require you to take more than one cousre per exam. The course was shit anyway. We had too many breaks, started too late and ginished too early. Plus the fact it cost me £80 to travel and food for 5 days. Could have got that back but since work paid for the course thought that was little harsh.
I got work to buy me the Microsoft Press MCSE 2003 pack and then purchase the 2008 books for me too. Books cost like £45 each You can get PDFs online for those who don't mind sitting at a computer screen all evening.
Was hard work, right now feel it wasn't worth it as i already have an IT Support role, but then neither was my two degrees. Something i wanted to do.
