z22se engines suffer in the vx from water ingress, i know its happened twise to me, and each time thats £20 for a set of plugs.. so i got this for £30 never seen it on another vx, so i just had to try it.
worked out pretty well, quite sturdy, dont know if it vibrates yet as i havent taken it for a drive yet but does look good. just needs a clean.

Looks good does that. But why is the cover the wrong way round?

The only issue I could see is coolent temps going up as the ambient temp in the bay will rise.
But otherwise, good idea. Watch those temps for a while though (should be fine in winter )

The engine is in the right way round (if it wasnt the car would have 5 reverse gears)
Those late spec covers do make the engine look more beefy, I was toying with using the Vectra C cover for my block as it looks huuuuge
Isnt there still a hole in those covers for the heat-sink? surely water will still go down there?

its not there that the water gets in its here on the right side of the ignition cover, you can see the big semi circle that lets water in.

You can probably take the ecotec writing off with some thinners if you are really careful.

Remove ecotec bit and paint the silver part red I say.
edit- and then a black or carbon oil cap

no its fine, i just havent got round to putting hte carpet back in..
i found that if i parked uphil the rain collected at the far back of the boot and didnt make it to the drain holes before working its way under the seals,
ive now sealed the seals with silicone and mostly park it downhilll

Yeh I reckon spray the cover black to get rid of the Ecotec writing, then get a sticker of it made up to go the "right" way round.
Then spray the yellow caps silver

What about painting a VXR style Black/silver/red graphix like the touring cars use? Bit motorsportish.
Would look quite funky under those grills.

the cover's the right way around..
think of it like this, your standing at the back of the engine, not the front, thats what it would look like sat in a fwd car, with no bonnet on
