Right, I went up to my folks place after work tonight and my old corsa (a wee 1.4 sport) which is now owned by my sister was sitting at the house. Dad reckons it was three months since it was last started so I thought I would take it a wee run just so it had been started and had been a short drive.
Anyway, got in turned the key, fired up first time I was quite surprised to be honest. Anyway, went a little drive and had a great time it got me thinking I wouldn't mind getting another corsa as a weekend car.
Now the car is due an mot in february and I think it will need a bit of work done to get through it. My sister is away at uni and never uses the car and if it doesn't pass the mot my old man just wants to scrap it. Which will be a waste as its a great little car, well I think so anyway but I have always been quite attached to it!!
I'm so tempted to try and get it back to being a tidy car. It just needs a bit of body work done and it will be looking ship shape again. If I did get it back I would want to mod it over a year or two just as and when I have money with it eventually becoming a turbo in years to come.
Basically, should I waste a lot of hard earned cash on it and have fun or just let the car go to waste? Yes to get it back, No to get over it

Personally, I'd take it to a garage and get them to carry out a 'pre-MOT' check, to estimate how much work it will need to pass the next one in February.
If its your old car, did you sell it or give it to your sister? Basically, if you wanted it back, would you have to buy it back, and how much for?

It was kind of given away, I got £300 for it 2 years ago. It was worth more and probably still is but I had a company car at the time and my sister was learning to drive so it was pretty much given away. It just hasn't been looked after at all since my sister got it. I reckon if I gave her £100 it would be mine and if the worst came to the worst I could split it.
The arches could do with some attention and just needs a general tidy up and it will be looking quite good again. I did notice the rear breaks seem to be a bit fucked but a brake conversion would be pretty high on my list of early mods anyway. I want it back so badly but at the same time I think I should be moving on and growing up

Why not? If you have the money and you're willing to spend it on the Corsa as a little project then go for it. No point in leaving it to be scrapped if you like it.

I would go for it, and pick up cheap bits on here and ebay along the way and keep costs to a minimum!

I'm going to have to pay £200 for it which is ok I suppose. I will get pics at the weekend when I go up to the rents house. I'm just going to keep the car there for now as there isn't any space where I'm staying.
I'm getting all excited about this wee project

I know but the car was never only worth £300 tbf, I just wanted rid as I had a company car at the time. Plus the car was sold to my Dad for my sister so I wasn't too bothered about what I got for it.
