Hello to all.....

New to all this... so help me out guys!

Want a sxi 1.2 or 1.4 about 52 or 54 plate...... any issues with the car I should know about, any problems, worries, things to look out for etc.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Moving from 52 to 54 plate, you're going to get either pre or post facelift in the Corsa C, so your prices will vary quite a lot.

iirc, the pre-facelift uses a cambelt on the 1.4, but chain on the facelift. All 1.2's are chain driven. There was a recall on them, nothing much to worry about really. There was an ABS recall as well which should have been dealt with if needed.

Apart from that, they're pretty sound cars.

get one on a 53 plate or newer, will be the facelift version - better bumpers, headlights etc. Also if your budget allows get a 1.4 SRi if you insurance will allow.

It isn't full Irmscher kit, just front splitter & side skirts.

The 1.3CDTi will be better on fuel, but it's more expensive and a decent car is more expensive to begin with. Certain year 1.3's have £35 tax per year also.

Exclusiv (<- no 'e') was a limited run of 500 cars. It was a 1.4 16v with the XEP engine so chain driven. It had an Irmscher splitter and skirts as standard, plus nicer alloys. It then had full leather interior, heated seats and climate control plus other goodies. It also had sport suspension - I can't remember if it's Irmscher or just SXi/SRi.

It really is the model to have if you're going to go for a 1.4

SRi models were kind of replaced by SXi+ models. They did 1.2 16v, 1.4 16v and 1.8 16v plus 1.3CDTi SXi+ models. They have half leather and occasionally the same alloys found on the Exclusiv.

SRi came in 1.4, 1.7CDTi and 1.8. They were available in pre-facelift models (apart from the 1.7CDTi). They finished around 2006 when SXi+ models took over.
