I got given a K&N filter and its filthy...
What do you guys clean yours with?
I was gonna but the proper K&N stuff... but its £13 and £21 p+p ...
im not paying that lol!

think halfrauds do the k&n cleaning kitt if you have one local. Not dear i don't think.

clean it in petrol/parfin, then let it dry, wash in warm soapy water, then let it dry properly and fit....

Seriously carb cleaner is cheaper and better, also you dont need to let it dry becuase it will run with carb cleaner on it, also while you have the standard box off you can give it a good squirt of carb cleaner, providing you dont drive a derv

Christ dont spray carb cleaner into a derv inlet use it as a cleaner by all means

it is only the filter oil that keeps out the dirt out of the engine, no filter oil on the filter
dirt gets in,
do not use petrol or paraffin because it knackers the cotton filter medium, when the filter is washed when it dry's it turns white this is so you can see where to re oil it

What exactly will happen?

Cleaned the EGR valve on a clio dci using carb cleaner, when fitting it I gave the inlet a blast of it aswell to clean it up. Not while the engine was running though
