A few years ago, just after my mum died, I was advised by doctors to get checked out for Polysystic Kidney Disease.

My dad though, "i'll talk out a critical illness plan". He's a little supersticious, and he was hoping if he took out the plan, it would be money wasted and i wouldn't have anything. I'm afraid that wasn't the case though. I was diagnosed with Polysystic Kidney Disease.

Today, i was trying to find a document for my dad. Was looking through the filing cabinate and I came accross the critical illness plan. Even though he's been paying the monthly premiums, i am down as the owner of the policy and i'm entitled to a fair amount of money.

The question is, would it be out of order for me to say to my dad that i want that money?

So its a plan that pays out a sum if you have a critical illness??

I dont see why you shouldnt be entitled to some cash as any payout would be to help you with your life etc.

Did you get checked out before you took out the life assurance Ci plan? If so, they might not pay up on grounds of non disclosure.

Its not the sort of illness where i'll be unable to work. It might effect me later on in my life (maybe my 40s), but i'll have to get a kidney transplant or go on dialysis every week or two.
