Will start the year after...

March 2009 <----- Same as 08
March 2010 ------> (what should have been 09)
March 2011 ------> (what should have been 10)

Still going to come in unless Labour get kicked out

Better make the most of £230 tax for another year

Honestly? Oh my goodness, this is amazing

That must mean fuel will come down again then?

It's obvious they are trying to reignite the markets again by giving people more money to spend.

I'm all for it.

Does seem that way, im all for it aswell but dubious as to whether it will do good in the long term. Due to the government not getting as much in taxes and with the loans they've got from the B of E. Surely there will be funding cuts somewhere?

Aye it was all over the news, some government think tank has put it to the funny eyebrowed guy that VAT should be slashed to 12% until the end of next year!!

A government think tank that has actually studied something useful and come up with a decent proposal? Never

I thought they were too busy reclassifying Jaffa Cakes as biscuits?

if they do these cuts does it not mean that they will only try to get any lost revenue back at a later date by bumping the tax back up maybe higher than before?

Agree Matt, they are making cuts and have just spent £500bn to bail the UK market out!

Now losing out on cutting Taxes / VAT

We will certainly feel it in the future I would think

The government arent stupid.. If vat comes down to offset inflation it only has to go back up in the future which means they will rake it in..

But it wouldnt be because inflationw would push the price up so the government is infact getting 12% of a bigger value and thus not actually losing
