Depends. 3 for a straight degree but a lot are 4 years with a year of work.
So you guys must have a longer academic year than up here?

Typical education year is sept-july, uni tends to be sept-june but they all differ from one another (+/- a week or so), plus some courses are shorter if you don't have exams etc etc

Where I currently work part-time has hinted at a full time job, plus I've made loads of contacts whilst working there. However I have to create a marketing plan, and essentially sell myself to the company first.

I haven't planned to start looking until after Christmas, this is mainly because working in marketing/marcomms and that sort of thing, requires a bit of luck - and not a lot of people are recruiting as company spend is on the decrease.

But it's never to early to start. Firstly find websites with vacancies that are directly related to your job - there are plenty of websites out there. Get a feel for what you have to do, so when you come to apply, that is all you have to do.

Also, make sure you have your CV ready, and tailor it to each job, remembering to keep a copy

Also, the majority of jobs I've seen advertised are for 'Immediate Start'. Pretty pointless in applying, and in terms of graduate jobs, the market is pretty saturated in all but a few industries.

Also, apply 'outside the box' as it were. I want to go into marketing, advertising, branding, that sort of thing. I'm not going to bother trying to get into Saatchi & Saatchi and other top agencies without any experience. Apply for local companies, or just go and speak to them if they don't have any vacancies. I plan to work locally, when a lot of people I speak to in the media department say "I've still heard nothing back from the BBC" etc.

Im looking to get into a local company and working my way up, maybe not starting from the bottom but starting in a 'lower than graduate' position. Id feel terribly bad waltzing into a place being 21 years old and not knowing how the business works and have to manage people twice my age who have worked there all their lives, doesnt seem right to me + I reckon I would get little respect of my opinions, simply due to inexperience

I'm fucking scared of going in to work tbh. When you see the job advert, you tend to think "yeah I can do that". However, when put into practice what you've learnt, it's very tough. Particularly in work I've been doing. Not so much accounting etc though.

I haven't gone to Uni just to get a better job, so if it means starting in telesales or something, then I will.
