I've been having a search on google for a definative answer but am not having much luck.
Am I right in thinking it is legal to fit a decat pipe as long as your car still passes MOT emissions?

i believe so, but the likelyhood of that happening is quite small.

As Ben says. The chances of a de-cat passes an emissions test are slim to none.
I've got one on mine, come MOT time, whip it off, cat on. 15 minute job done.

Well if you just stick one on it stands a good chance of not passing an MOT emissions test.
Can the ecu be mapped so that it brings the emissions to a legal level and still increase BHP?

Cars after 1992 legally need a CAT and are all manufactured with one
But as long as it passes the emmisons test within a mot, Im led to believe it will be fine?, But saying that, ive heard its very hard without one.
However it wouldnt be that hard to put one back on prior to MOT.

I told my MOT tester in the summer that my car had a decat, and I'd get it changed by the time I brought it in for the test.
He told me that as long as it passed the emmisions, he couldn't fail it - there is nothing specifically stating that it must have a cat to pass, just that it must meet the emmisions regulations.
