I may have the chance of a cheapish Passat 1.8 20v Non turbo from a mate.
S reg
140k (motorway miles - apparently)
Ive been told to look for wet passenger carpet, and check all the front suspension arms and obvioulsy a general look over.
Any more info?
Plans would be coilovers and 18" RS6 wheels or similar. Car is silver.
So, pics of a standardish passat on 18's if you please!

I can't imagine one with that engine being particularly nice to drive?

a8's

my 1.9 pd130 6 speed

soon to look!

just got some black r32 mk5 golf rims and angels
i absolutely love the cars. so much car for your money. solid and reliable. the new derv has now done 173k and runs sweet as a nut!
yeh the wet floor can be pricey, as the wee comuter in the footwell gets knackered. other than that no specific probs just the usual cambelt changes etc etc

It's a big car for an n/a 1.8 engine and after 140k it'll be showing big signs of wear and tear no matter how many people tell you the engines are good for double that.
Would have to be extremely cheap.

have you had a look at any of the diesel versions? the 115 model will be just as quick with better MPG etc. won't be £500 though i don't think.
yes i feel dirty for recommending a diesel

We have both the 1.8 N/a and 1.8 Turbo
N/a

My turbo wagon..

Our N/a is in pretty good shape, returns 40mg on a run and is running sweet after 100k.
My turbo has done 150k and still managed to make 142bhp on the rollers on saturday, only making 7 psi boost pressure..
As said before look out for water leaks, if you do get it renew the pollen filter housing seal, and knock out the grommet under the battery straight away, this should stop any future leaks..
Also check the suspension arms for play, c.v boots are prone to splitting. and at 140k the shocks may be a little tired
