YOu need to adjust your driving to the conditions.
It rains/snows/ice on the road, leave bigger gaps to the car infront?!?
Slow down if the visability isn't good.
Another one that gets me is DEFROST YOUR FUCKING CAR BEFORE YOU PULL OFF?!? The amount of people the drive peeping through a little hole in their car is unreal, get the scraper out, do all your windows, rear and mirrors included?!?

CBT and IAM are two COMPLETELY different things. My GF's half wit brother passed his CBT on his 16th birthday, after he'd been out the night before

I'm doing manoeuvres tonight for my iam.
I'm still trying to break out of old habits and still don't agree with quite a lot of it.
Habit I can't get out of is knocking it out of gear before coming to a stop and putting the handbrake on.

Problem is too many drivers who aren't confident in normal conditions let alone "extreme" or slightly different conditions...
I do agree with you though, slight bit of rain, fog, or even at night and you will notice a slight difference

I was 30 minutes late for uni last week because what is normally a 40 minute journey took an hour and 20 minutes due to people finding it acceptable to drive at 25mph because there was a miniscule reduction in visability from fog. Not amused in the slightest.

Problem is that is a serious problem, TGV lines are special in that they are straight running in open land, whereas in the UK they run through the country where you have trees lol. Trains can't stop as quick as cars in optimum conditions, so when leaves mulch builds up on the lines, with the constant running over them leaves a residue on the track making them slippy.... in France they don't have that problem.
