saying a boxter s will hold money better is rubbish tbh. They arent rare, more expensive to run and most importantly are a 2 seater sports car! For e.g Joe bloggs wants to buy a cool car and has a strit budget because of the CC. He wants a 2 seater but knows its impractical so he goes for the similar performance M3 with 4seats and cheaper running costs.

Thats why Z3's lost all their money toy cars are a LUXURY when money is tight, ok an M3 is still a luxury item, but it will appear to a broader market.
Plus if someone owns one and their mortgage goes up and they need money fast? Sell the car they dont use often, usually the more impracticle one

So the other way round IMO

TBH mate the M3 and the Boxster are near spot on running cost wise

Insurance...Same
Tax...Same
Servicing...Kinda the same if you use specialists
Both need expensive tyres
Both do about 25 MPG

If i'm honest i'd say at the moment the M3 is more viable and at least when we have our baby i can still keep it if i want too but with the Porsche i'd have to get shut of it.

I just like the whole sports car 'Feel' though..razor sharp handling..buzzing engine behind you..nice soundtrack etc. Were as i can't get the fact out of my head the M3 is just a big car that's quick Not the best 2 cars to compare really in a drivers sense but they are pretty much the only 2 cars i'd own when spunking 15-17K.

Should be going to view the M3 at the weekend hopefully.

I'm a bit daft

Part of me wants the comfort/cruising lazy ability and the cocoon like feeling of a big comfy car but another side of me wants the raw sit on the floor feeling of a sports car

Maybe i should buy both and not have a new kitchen
