i liked the film and have read the book a fair few times also. would love to go to thailand but i'm not the backpacker type.

I spent 6 weeks on Kho Phi Phi Don, fucking awesome place, Thai people there are wicked, place is wicked, food and nightlife is wicked, beach is awesome, can't recommend it highly enough.

As nice as it is, I'd get seriously bored spending 6 weeks there. There isn't that much to do there once you've seen the sights and had a few nights out.
