Depends what you want? More refined car/power or just pure mental?
Iirc, the engine going to cost you around £1200 to buy, then to do the job properly you'll need to re-build it which is £xxx then you have the cost of buying the conversion parts (engine mounts, shafts, cv's, hubs etc) and the labour of fitting (if you take it to a garage instead of doing it yourself)

i've never understood the need to rebuild the engine before it goes in unless its knackered. when mine went in over 4years ago i never had it rebuilt and nothing went wrong with it other than sensors etc. which dont get replaced when 'rebuilding' it! The only other thing that broke was the turbo but i just replaced that when it went.
If its not broke, dont fix it! (imo)

You got to remember most C20 engines are 15+ years old now and well over 100,000 miles!
Its a lot easier to rebuild an engine out of the car than it is in, so always worth doing. It doesnt hurt to refresh the bottom end bearings etc for the cost of them.
But if you find 1000 miles down the line or whatever than the bearings are shagged etc, then it will cost a lot more time and money

As R1CH said, seeing as how its out of the car you might as well get it rebuilt then to stop having to yank it all back out again or have some stupid labour costs to do it while in the car.
But if you wing it you could have a good one that as corb says lasts a good number of years

Also if your not gonna rebuild it yourself, make sure you get someone to do it you can trust!!
I had my build with second hand bearings! didnt last 1200 miles!

Or you could buy this engine for £1500 :
Less than 1000 miles ago the engine was rebuilt and the following work was done;
Head skimmed and valves reseated
Block skimmed and honed out
Core plugs replaced
Pistons polished with new rings
New big end and main bearings
Full replacement gasket and seal set
ARP Conrod bolts
New timing belt kit
