As he is disabled, just go for something roomy, comfortable and that is easy to get in and out of. Zafira or something, some stupid suggestions in here.

liking it!
Had one as a hire car, I didn't rate it. Seats are pretty uncomfortable and the interior is much to be desired. Boot space wasn't exactly enormous either.
I quite like the Astra's, or Vectra's are big cars also, and lots of room.

Toyota Auris
My mum has one... ive borrowed it a few times.. very quick for a diesel.. kinda scary actually... i dont like the steering at all on them.. it seems to firm up the quicker you go i prefer no pas all the way...
As for boot space though.. as graham says... nae room at all.. infact my sisters yaris has more boot space..
Interior is just a bit weird... spaceship like... but the orange dials are very cool

I do like the dials actually, they are strange but cool. Handbrake is very strange and spaceship like as you say. I like the gear lever too, short changes

Auris isn't very good! Cheap and boring! Interior scratches easy.
Dont know what the new Brava is like but it looks pretty nice with the right wheels

Avoid motability like the fucking plague.
We had two cars as mum is registered disabled due to arthritis, had three knee replacements as one was done wrongly.
They are SO pedantic regarding wear and tear as they call it, you can't drive the car without fear of it being damaged in car parks etc. And then you are limited on mileage and often have to pay extra deposits for anything decent.
He will also lose any NCB he has built up, regardless of what he's told by Motability.
Really really not worth having one based on our experience.

How does it work anyway, do you just get a free car or what do you pay?
A guy at school (long time ago) got a brand new golf on motability because he had a wonky knee. He said he didnt have to pay anything, which I thought was a bit gay as I had to struggle to buy my 1st car for 500 quid yet he got a brand new free one & spent his cash on going to gigs, Tin the Park etc & jumping around like for hours....knee alright for that then aye
