To answer your question, I'd be spreading it about - £50,000 here and there because you get the old prtection if the bank goes under. And a lot also would go in a safe at my house.

Keep what I'd think I would need and stick the rest in Government Bonds or summat.
Would prob investa series of £49,999 in various banks in their highest interest rate accounts and keep whatever was left in BOE bank account for spends.
