Does anyone know when a cambelt needs to be changed on a '02' Registered 1.0 Corsa C.

My friend has just bought one with 50K miles on it, and we are not sure if the cambelt has been changed.

Many thanks in advance.

Chain should last the life of the car unless it becomes noisey.

Guideline is 100k miles.

Expect the full kit, supplied & fitted by an independent garage to cost about £400.

The timing chains were recalled on the Corsa C because they were noisy. To remedy this, a recall kit was introduced. The new chain was linked to the old one and fed through, therefore a cheaper fix.

However, it didn't replace the pulleys and tensioners, which should be done near the 100k mark, which is advisable.

But if your mate is like me and will be completely bored by 100k rattles ( no pun intended) round, then he won't need to replace it.
