Im really not sure what this does can anyone shed any light please and do i relly need it on a red top conversion, if its not needed i dont want it!

|Dont think you need it at all, not even on a sport, Ive taken mine off with no probs.

vent from fuel tank goes into it, as far as i know u can get rid of it, just block up the pipes

do you mean block up the pipe as it comes out of the fuel tank or take the canister off and block it up there?

take canister off
block both pipes up
think the other goes into the vacuum system/ or inlet somewhere iirc

I wouldn't block the pipes. They don't put stuff like this on for a laugh.

Your fuel tank needs to be ventilated to allow for expansion and contraction of its contents. If you remove it and block it up then you might just find your fuel tank will pop, the lines could pop off or it could collapse in on itself depending on what way the temperature sways.

it vents the fuel tank, as ed says, i would leave it there and make sure its connected.

i have removed mine, ,,, but then i have a nova engine on carbs so my car is very unique
