This probably isn't news to you by now, but in case you've not been privy to any radio or tv news today.

Richard Wright sadly passed away earlier.

A pleasant, modest and immensely talented gentleman who was a founder member and irreplaceable component of one of the most important bands of the 20th century and beyond.

His playing style and his sound and voice have always been an umistakeable trademark of Pink Floyd.

Richard will be desperately missed by his family, friends and millions of enthusiastic music fans across the globe. Myself included.

I never had the chance to meet him but saw him play live in 1994 with Floyd and he was flawless throughout.

My heartfelt sorrow and condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace Richard.

My brother saw them live when they last toured.

I've seen Dave Gilmour, but that's as close as I got.

never been a huge fan of pink floyd, do like them although im more into metal scene.
But i do have a huge respect for them, they accomplished a lot in there days, and if it wasnt for them a lot of the great bands around just now wouldnt be here.

Its always sad to hear of death, but even worse when its a legend as great as this.

Pink Floyd are so established and their music has played such a large part in my life over the years (often being the soundtrack to it) that it seems just surreal that any of them can die.

It was bad and sad enough when Syd died, but as Dave Gilmour said, he'd done his mourning for him years, if not decades prior. For him to stop breathing almost seemed like a technicality. He'd ruined his mind and been in the wilderness on all levels for so long he was almost as good as dead and it seemed a formality when he actually passed away, albeit a tragic one.

Richard though, always seemed so healthy and rational and appeared to be full of the joys of spring during an interview on BBC4 in the last year or so.

I couldn't stop thinking about this last night and have had some very poignant, appropriate and thought provoking Floyd lyrics going around in my head since I heard the news on the radio in the car yesterday evening.

It was only last week that Dave Gilmour was mentioned on the radio as being the only band member who has in recent years either been not keen or not willing to reform for a reunion tour.

I'm sure I can't even begin to imagine the kind of regret he must be feeling over his decision now.

It is really tragic. I have listened to Pink Floyd since I was small as they are one of my Dads fave bands. Dark side of the Moon is one of my favourite albums and Shine on you crazy diamond is one of my favourite songs. I don't think there music will ever appear dated let alone be forgotten.
