My mate is fitting one to his 20XE engine... nice and simple.

I've borrowed it for my Astra. I ran the engine for about 2 mins and it leaked oil.

Now that is not a good thing. He asked me if he could used PTFE tape to stop it leaking. I said that it'd melt the tape.

Am i right and if so, what could he do to stop it leaking oil?

is PTFE tape, thread tape?
if so ive seen it used on many a hydraulic system (heavy duty)

PTFE tape would be fine.
