Restart your modem.

When ever I go on YouPorn for long periods of time, the internet goes dog slow. As did it used to when I downloaded TV shows etc.

Reset the router i.e. pull the power, wait 15 secs and plug back in, then it was fine.

I think they're watching me

Yes me, i noticed this and i've done tests on 3 different sites which all say the same result, re-booted router etc, very strange.

Mate was moving hosting over to a new server earlier on and asked me to check what speeds I could get from it.

820k a second downloads

Speed tests mean nothing if the net seems to be running fine.

After 6.5 years with BT I'm switching to O2 today . BT take the piss with shaping from 4PM to 11PM. I've heard good things about O2, speeds, no shaping, good customer service. (No Indian call centres).
I'll see later when it's activated.

Not a bad start on O2 first off was only getting 8mb same as BT. However realised that my router was a few years old and didn't support or have an ADSL2+ modem at a guess. Swapped over to the O2 router supplied and up she went to about 12mb. Still less than the 20mb I am paying for. Today however test are averaging just over 17mb.

It might improve over the next few days.
Put it this way with BT's throttling at peak time the latest episode of Prison Break was downloaded at 11 kb/s or less. Took hours then picks up at 11ish and finishes.

I redownloaded it on O2 and it took 12 mins. Highest I saw was 872 kb/s

So far so good for O2. Just gotta get these damn email accounts sorted with them but I think it's a website glitch

PS - Before I left BT their parting shot was that my speed would be the same on O2 as it's all their equipment and lines. Yeah looks like
So double the speed for £10 less a month and no shaping. BT
