what do you take with you when out on the trails? i'm talking about anything from maps to tools really. i've got a decent size bag that fits a hydration pack and there's plenty room for other stuff. i'm pretty sure that i take too much stuff with me though and would like to just take essentials so list away!

Depends on the ride, but for an 'epic':
- Food
- Water
- Spare inner tube
- puncture repair kit
- minimal bandages
- Small amount of toilet roll (when you gotta go!)
- Multi-tool
- Pump
- Spare gloves if winter
That sounds a lot, but it really isn't that much when all compacted down etc.

Only need food if your doing more than a couple hours. If you racing Torq gels are good.
