Need to tax my car and still havent got the V5 through from when I bought it, how do I go about getting it? Bought it from a dealer and they said if it hasnt come yet il need to apply for it and pay for one

You can get tax with the green tear-off slip.

I always photcopy mine before sending it off just incase it gets lost in post.
Maybe the dealer has a copy for proof of date of sale?? You can get number off him and do it online?

well if u moved, it probably came to ur old address.. on green slip it says to allow 6 weeks for new v5 to arrive..
buy tax online..
as for logbook - 25 pounds if u havent got the green slip.

I taxed my G/f's car at the begining of the month with a new keeper slip dated some time in 2007

I was reading from the back of the one I have infront of me.
'This section is valid for the New Keeper (Buyer) to re-licence the vehicle for up to 2 months from the date of purchase.
If the Registration Certificate is not received after 6 weeks, please contact DVLA on 0870 240 0010'
Licence could very well not mean tax and thats why i'm wrong.

i just had to do this, i got a V62 from the post office filled it in, put my new keepers suplement in with it and was excempt from paying the £25 fee. im still waiting for that to turn up now though
