If that astra coupe has a decent map on it to go with them mods, it will be noticably quicker than your cupra.

however awful it may look.

It would have to be 290bhp to have a similar power to weight ratio

although i do like ibiza's they are not that quick,i have quite comfotably beat a claimed 200+ bhp ibiza.not sure which one is the better car, but imo the ibiza is a better looking car and i would choose that.if it was a mk4 astra gsi then it would be a different story.

not really, there are 3 lad's in my area with biza's all mapped with turbo's, cooler's and system's etc

when the corsa was a standard z-let i kept with and passed all three with ease

so im sure a mapped coupe would do the same, infact more

Taking an impartial view here (I owned a mk4 GSI) and dislike both Astras and Ibizas, money for money if you just did a bog standard map and inter cooler on both cars the Astra will be quicker down the the fact Phase 3 is nigh on what 270ish? Doubt an ibiza with just a map and and intercooler would be near this unless you employed a K03. Also the Zlet produces shit loads of torque when mapped

Further to this please note both these cars are boring hatches which are only decent for driving in stright lines

I had a 290bhp Astra GSI and it was pretty uninspiring to drive.

Build quality was miles better than my old Ibiza (yes I've owned both so can pass comment) and handling was better as well, Ibizas are shite at going round bends, not that the astra was amazing mind

Speed isn't everything, I now drive a standar CTR, so 90bhp less than the Astra and half the torque but a hell of a lot more fun to drive

I can't get my head round why Cupra's arnt fast?

What makes a car fast? surley if the astra is say 200bhp and the Cupra is 200bhp surely the Cupra will be faster due to power to weight?

That coupe isn't a brilliant example but I would 10 times prefer a decent and well modded astra coupe over an Ibiza. The coupe if done right looks both sporty and executive. IMO the Ibiza looks a bit chavvy and 'boy racer'..
