Anyone ever done one of these?

What does it involve/What did you do? Did you enjoy it? Was it challenging etc?

Would just like a bit of info from people that have experienced it really.
I start mine on 22nd of September as part of my Apprenticship.

Yeah i did, well kind of! We only had four people in our group and one twisted his ankle quite badly on the last day so we had to pull out and never got round to doing it again

It was a good laugh, it was hard work at the time, and most of the time i thought bollocks to this im going home, but looking back im glad i didnt as it was a good laugh (like 3 of the group getting stuck waste high in a bog, accidentally knocking a tree down chopping a caravan in half)!

If i remember there are 3 elements you have to complete during the time you do this- a service, a skill, a sport. My service was first aid, skill was model making or something and sport was just the gym 3 times a week.

We had to do a lot of map reading and route plotting in the local area before they let us lose in Derbyshire where we did our walks.

Do you have to do Bronze and Silver first, or are you jumping straight to Gold?

http://www.dofe.org/go/Gold/ Ive had a look at the website mate. Just wanted peoples opinions on it.

What skill, service and sport did you do Lawrah?

I think it's just jumping straight into gold mate. My first week as part of the apprenticship is staying in the middle of no where for 4 nights and 5 days which is part of the Gold award. IIRC the Bronze and Silver don't have to do this.

Chopping a caravan in half Sounds awsome.

Yeah you do Volunteering, Skill, Physical, Expedition and Residential
