Just bought some sxi wheels with a few scuffs on them. How much do i have to sand them down i have been doing them with 240 wet n dry should i go courser or keep at it im gonna work my way upto 1200 grade wet n dry so far i have got through the laquer i think how much more do i need to go? Im gonna paint them Antrecite or Gun metal grey. so am i right in saying i will need primer, paint and also laquer? Also has any one else sprayed these wheels your self if so post up some pics please.

Im doing a set of Tigra rims at the moment, anthracite with a blue lip round the outside. Any kurb marks take them out with 80grit, and work up basically, i go up to 800, but if you wanna go to 1200 you can. Im only putting primer on where it goes through to metal, so i dont have to flat all the wheel down, just the primered part after. Then panel wipe it, few coats of paint and a few of laquer.

Mine done with cans.

1) rubbed down with low grit (240-400)
2) Rubbed down with fine grit to get a smooth finish (1000-1500)
3) Primer
4) Flatted with wet 1200
5) Colour - 3 or 4 coats
6) Laquer
7) Rubbing compound

If you go wrong or arent with with the finish, its easy enough to rub it back down and start again
