as some will know i am currently in a standard 1985 1.0 8v Nova while i look for a new car afetr my ZR got written off.
someone suggested the Citroen C2 so i take a look and i see the following
1.1 engine - petrol
BHP 61
Torque 69
Stats
1.4 engine - Diesel
bhp 70
Torque 118
Stats
1.4 engine - Petrol
BHP 75
Torque 69
Stats
1.4 Engine - Petrol (VTR)
BHP 75

now i can understand the 1.1 engine figures, but the 1.4 engines  ? i thought the VTR was supposed to be the "sporty" model? i can understand the high torque on the diesel engine but 75 bhp doesnt seem much from the "sporty" version (ok so the torque is up but no change on power) which is then proven by the stop&start Senso
the Corsa B with a 1.4 engine pushes out 90bhp ins grp 5, the Saxo grp 3!
can anyone explain? or are Citroen being boring with engine tuning?

It's the sporty model for the 17 year old kids who know fuck all about cars and want something with the right badge on it so they can impress their mates.

after the success of the saxo vtr/vts they got a rep for being sporty so now shitroen think they can put thebadge on any car and sell it to chavs.

It's more along the lines that their target market is young drivers. The insurance group needs to be low so they can afford the insurance, or so Citroen can sell them with free insurance. The VTR badge also denotes the trim level, not just the engine.

1.6 VTS HDI FTW IMO

the 1.4 stats u have is for a furio which is an 8v
the gt is a 1.6 but 110 bhp and crap bodykit
the vtr is either a 1.4 or 1.6 however if you get the 1.6 you get a manual and auto box in one car and flappy padal controls, 1.4 the same stats as the 1.4 furio however comes with Alarm, Alloy wheels and cruise control as standard, the 1.6 is 110 bhp but not much faster
the vts is the 1.6 highest spec (comes in petrol and diesel) and is the best one imo. 8 seconds to 60 and 142Nm Torque
Cituning have developed a 4-2-1 manifold for the 1.6 vts, and some heavily tuned ones are hitting 220bhp
0 - 60, my furio is about 11 seconds and pulls to about 90 no struggle, gets to 110 on dash, keeps up with 100bhp clio and 1.6 fiesta zetec s so obviously power to weight is quite good. And also most people who have been in it have been faily surprised by the power for the size of the car. Also, when you drive one you'll see how easy they are to drive. I was fapping stunned by the handling and control !
1.6 HDI which they have just released is 110 bhp, ins grp 6, low tax and 58 mpg and has...260 Nm which is 192 lb-ft  out of a car the weight of a fart thats pretty impressive standard imo
