what torque do you do your wheel bolts to?
and if so have you had them work loose?

i have always done mine to the specified torqe 110-120nm and they have never worked loose,
but a couple of lads i know really tighten them up i-e hanging off the wrench,.
imo that tight is too tight as its streching the threads and damages the hub and the bolt

and does anyone have any proper prooven fact that over tightening is bad?

I do them as tight as I can get them without going to far i.e hanging off as you say.

Need to remember that you need to be able to remove them at the road side with the silly little wrench

Just put them on with the air-gun then a little nip with a small bar usually, really should torque them properly...

i always do them by hand, then tighten up with a torque wrench.

and 120 for the audi

Never worked loose for me either, only had dodgy moments when i've forgotten to tighten them at all, i.e. finger tight

110NM, If you go to far you can stretch the bolts.

I just use my airgun tho because anytime i use my airgun & torque them it's bang on.

When I worked in a bike shop, we did most things to the torque setting 'FT'.

Fucking tight.

Never had any complaints.

If there is a torque wrench on hand it gets done to about 110nm, otherwise tighten it then kick it a bit.

think it stems from the pug.... we used to end up sheering those with around 100nm, so i think that was the specified torque for the 205

I do mine up as tight as I can by hand/standing on the breaker bar, so that if I need to change a wheel I can actually undo the bolts with the tools in the car. Most of the time, if they're done up with an air gun, you're fucked at the side of the road with the shit tools you get in a Vauxhall.
