Just been watching the news. And was gutted to see my platoon sergeant from when i was a recruit in training at the infantry training centre in Catterick was killed in Afghanistan 2 weeks ago. Never had a clue about it untill two minutes ago.

For anyone that hast been in the forces, a platoon sergeant in training is like a dad to you. You look up to him, and have the greatest respect for them. Im deeply saddened by his lost, and gutted i couldnt of made his funeral. He was a great man, very commited to his job and most importantly and very fine soldier. One of the best i ever seen!

RIP Sergeant Matthews

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Such a shame

My mate is a Corporal/Section Commander up at Catterick, has been there for years.
