I've just bought a car which isn't taxed. I've got the new owner supplement from the V5, can I use this to tax the cover once I get my insurance documents through?

Also, if I buy the road tax online are you allowed to drive the car before the certificate arrives?

Yeah, V5 slip will be fine.

There are 2 different offences (possibly more) with regard to tax.
1) Driving without VED disc (i.e. not even paid online).
2) Driving without showing a valid VED disc (i.e. could be taxed online, but not come through).
