Goin to look at an R reg passat with 66000 on the clock. All service history from the last 3 years but none before that. 1.8 20v sport.

Anybody had any involvment with these? Good/bad points? What to look for? Rough price i should be paying?

I know this is a corsa forum but ive owned one for 2 years and now i need something with more bootspace and practicality. Plus a large majority of people on corsasport don't actually have a Corsa

Any help appreciated!

Passats are big comfy boats, loves driving my dads old one.

I'd be a bit wary of the very low mileage and lack of service history though, would scream out of being clocked to me.

5 series are still overpriced. You could get a Passat/A4 for half the price of the equivilent BMW. Have you considered an Audi A4? Passats and A4s are identical underneath, and both use the same chassis.

Only major difference is the outside panels, and the interior.

Just for reference:

I know someone who used to have a 1.8 20v. Was fully loaded inside, even had a refrigerated glove box, but didn't have alloys. Weird. Anyway, it shifted

Currently i am running a Passat, it's a 2003 Saloon TDi Sport and i love it. Can honestly say it is the nicest car i have owned. Its comfy has all the toys and it is fairly quick. Being a sport it even handles ok. 53.8 MPG too on a run and over the last 1000miles it has been doing 41mpg nearly all around town
