Well, if I buy it and repair it, it'll go down as a Class C Write Off, on it's HPi etc. The repairs are going to come to a touch under £450, I dont have time to do it myself.
If I buy it back off the insurance they charge me 23% of the value for their fee's and I have to have it retested once its repaired to make sure its roadworthy before they'll insure it again.
Too much hassle by the sound of things.

Well, the going price for the car (Laguna 2.0), if you look at what they sell at in the papers is £1000 for the same spec as mine. It needed a new wing, bonnet, bumper, inner wing, headlight and indicator so they wrote it off, nothing more to be said really, I wait for the valuers to ring me in the next couple of days.
Regardless, I've got my new motor lined up

Yeah they do, The book price for the same spec/condition/mileage for mine is about £750, but they said if I can prove, using current examples of cars the same as mine, that I beleive the value to be greater than what they offer, they reconsider.

Not got a pic yet, the cars only just 5 odd miles away though, my mate who's selling it I also work with, and I know he's out on site tomorrow so i'm gonna get over to check it out properly on Saturday fingers crossed, i've seen it before mind you, just not had a proper proper look like, he's bang into his cars though so I know he looked after it well, he's done 1000miles in 9 months coz he has a company van.

Usually they will have an option to sell the owner the car back for very little, probably scrap value in this case.
It will be a cat c or d or whatever but if its just a car you were planning to keep & run into the ground anyway?
Bits from the scrappy can be uber cheap, all bolt on parts - you could have the car looking decent again in an hour & a half.
Just another option for you to consider. Ask them about buying back then get round the local scrappers at the weekend looking for lagunas with intact front ends.

The valuers just rang up, I just agreed to a value of £700, cheque in post. Going over Saturday to take my headunit out of it and collect any other bits I left in there, including Tax Disk
