i know it totally random but thought i'd share with you guys how crap our transport authority and government are!!!

just got off the phone with the official importer of Westfield in Malta and he told me that registration fees are quite high! it is divided in the following sections:

- 15GBP for every build hour
- 50% of the price of the engine
- 75% of the estimated value of the car locally
- 18% VAT on top of everything

basicallt adding up to about GBP 24,000

that is only the registration for a damn kit car

buy the engine locally.
estimate the final value at something silly low like £2k

- 15GBP for every build hour
how do they know how long it'll take you to build it?

ian - yes i could but spoils the fun and pride of actually building it yourself

myke - you barely find hayabusas in Malta, let alone engines! the problem is not due to the importation of the engine. it has something to do with putting it in a 'new' car

myke - you have to provide a write up of every step of the build with all the costs incurred and the time spent on each task with pictures etc... so you cannot say for example that putting the engine in and plumbing it took 10minutes.

apart from all this the car has to be certified by a mechanical engineer (my cousin ) and the chassis has to be welded by a licensed welder (another cousin )

i'm starting to think it's not really worth the hassle unless i do it just the same and use it for hill climbs and drag races
