Anybody know any good ones?
My mate has an evo 8 which i have in the workshop atm.
A slight tapping has been identified as a melted piston! Wanted to see wether this was a common problem and what people recomend with regard standard or aftermarket pistons etc to give my mate a few options as to the repair!

Not a common problem as far as I'm aware. Is it an FQ I'm presuming and not an MR?

det is detonation.
Basically fuel burning not as desired.
Either at the wrong time or unevenly!
For example. One possibility with this is spark plug tip melting and glowing could cause the fuel to burn early. Basically trying to force the piston back down whilst the rest of the engine wants it to go up.
Sure someone will be along soon with a better explanation though lol
