Just about to take out a new policy with Bell. If im tpft I cant have any excess, but with comprehensive cover you can select excess up to £1000. In the event of a third party claim would I be required to pay up to the excess cost that I select or will that only be valid on accidents of my own fault?

If its not a fault accident then you wouldnt be paying regardless of what cover. However id expect if it was one of those claims that neither wants to accept fault for you may have to pay £1k up front then get it back if you win.
