Yup. All sold out, V4, 170+bhp (At wheels), very light, and recently tested at 190mph, but hit limiter due to rear sproket.

Niceeeee, how did you blag that? First in the country, you sure, that was handed over to a guy (rich) buy (forgotten) Ducati branch, held a big party thing for it.
How on earth did you blag a ride on a £40k bike? Surley they can't have let you take a customers bike out, you'd put milage on it, or did the owner let you out?

Yeh I'd agree Duke's are like the Lambo's and ferraris of bike world, cheaper jap crap like my TL and Gixxer kick their arse.

Doesn't come with as high spec components as the track line italian bikes though. More for european build, not for the japanese market.
Jap bikes are faster, more reliable etc... But italian bikes have passion, feeling, and design.
Old ducatis were renowned for poor electrics, but they haven't really suffered so much since the 996/748 days.
Its just a shame japanese bikes haven't got more passion, and something else other than an IL4 engine

I'd agree that most japs dont come as spec'd up but your paying half the price for a jap than an eye-tie.... that buys alot of bling. And besides - gixxer maybe an IL4 but its still got 99% of the bling & design any italian has (radial brakes, ohlins blah blah) and the TL... jap v-twin, passionless?? its probably the best bike ive owned, and ive had some supposedly better italians in the garage. granted though - they dont make the TL anymore. but they do do a V-twin in the SV1000 which is a detuned version of the same engine.

And what Japanease bikes is the TL engine still used in???
None, even the SV1000 has stopped production, and its only the italian bikes still using that superb engine (it was a great lump)!
Engine was amazing, bike was terrible. 40hp increase around 7000rpm, wasn't called the widowmaker for no reason. 900miles that cow would go through a rear tyre in, and it was never redlined.
TL was the last "mad" bike i've seen them produce.
I dunno, i guess its if you like being common, the same thing everyone else has, or a little more individual.
Benelli, Ducati, Bimota all day long for me over Yamaha, Suzuki, Kwaka....

the V-Strom....
yeh i know what you mean though, i redline my TL all the time, probably why i get about 20mpg out of it. Imo though choice is the spice of life, thats why ive owned a rather large range of bikes from both Italy and Japan (and some horrors from elsewhere!!) and they all have charecter - some you get on with, some you dont!
ps. MV tamburini if i could afford it.

Ali, nahhhh, £60k for a bike that you get a free £10k watch with, nahh thanks. MV's are nice, but they suffer a lot of problems, plus parts backup isn't great. And other than carbon panels and top suspension, its not much different from an F4R.
Twins are my thing, love them, that engine is a stormer, but massivly downgraded for the V-Storm (like 90bhp or something ).
Everyones different though, be a boring place if we all like'd CBR's
I want what my old mans go, Benelli Tornado LE (full race spec version of the Tornado Tre, which he's also go )..
Im looking at a few.
Tornado Tre
TL1000R
Aprillia Mille Factory R
Honda VTR SP2
Although i've recently seen a 60th Anniversary SV1000R (GSX colours) thats pretty tempting.
Gonna be a twin or triple though whatever. I like my instant umph.
