I thought 12v's were mostly group 2, but there are group 3 ones for some reason, the top ones like GLS etc I think.
Out of all the cars I tried the 12v was the cheapest to insure so went for it. Other cheap things to insure are Clio 1.2's (phase 1 - can't remember mark) and Saxo 1.1's.
This is all with 0 NCB.

just been getting quotes for a 1.0L polo, and there really expensive to insure!! it were way over £2000 for the cheapest!?

despite my 1.0 being a group 1 i still pay £1400 third party on it. Cant wait to get a years no claims

youre a young male, its going to be expensive whatever you get, its life. As stated many factors effect insurance quotes, may I advise becoming female. At 18 I was paying under a grand fully comp on a new 1.6 Astra sport

When I was doing quote I did them with 2 cars, corsa 1.4 8v sri and the 1.4 16v sport, like 7-8bhp between them but the cost to insure the 16v was around £300 more.
is the 1.0 12v quicker then the 1.2 8v

Anything is quicker than the 1.2 8v in my experince.
and id say corsas are exspensive to insure tbh, it was cheaper to insure my nova gte
than a 1.4 merit corsa

corsa's are some of the cheapest cars to insure! Cheapest is a fiat chincequento(sp) most expensive car for a young person to insure realisticly is the fiesta's catagory 6 for the 985cc one crap imo

he means it doesnt matter wether its 1bhp or 8bhp in pub banter the 1.2 owner will always get abused by the 1.0 owner going ive got more bhp
