2 episodes in, and as great as it is so far, I couldnt help but think what tight bastards McGregor and Boorman were when they went in a little tantrum when KTM refused to give them free bikes.

Not like they're short of a bob or 2 is it?

Looking forward to watching the rest of it still though

In fairness KTM had promised them the bikes and it would have eben shit loads of publicity for them; to come that far and then drop out at the last minute doesn't look very good!

They also made it round so KTM must be kicking themselves now!I'd have been pissed of with them too

id see it as ewan and charley were doing KTM the favor by riding there bikes.

look at the publicity bmw got from the whole affair, quite a few more ££££ then three or four bikes wouldve set them back

Annoyed me also the way they were moaning and whinging about how they wouldn't get free bikes.

£10k on a new bike each is a tiny cost compared to what the rest of the trip would set them back - tight bastards

Other than that, amazing series and journey

I enjoyed both series but long way round was better. I don't see why you would be annoyed about them getting free bikes tbh, the way of the world.

were you actually watching? they weren't annoyed that they wasn't getting free bikes, they were annoyed that KTM made an offer and removed it because the bloke who spoke to them thought they couldn't do it. I'd be mighty pissed too.

Initially, I thought the same...ie Ewan you fool, you are worth millions....why worry about the ££££ of the bikes?

But then i realised you dont become a millionaire whilst spending your own money...to me that was six months off work for them whilst paying for the docu team.

Whilst they were on a jolly, it made/makes sense for them to market the trip to the hilt...which they did to great effect.

Shame they fell out in the second adventure...are they still talking?

I have the Long Way Round DVD and Long Way Down book - haven't read the book yet, but I have watched the DVD.

Both trips they did were immense!

If you read the long way round book it explains more about the money that they haven't spent. They got backing for it all. Well charly did. Ewan was doing 2 films at the time. And as soon as he'd finished them, he was preparing for the trip.
