Had a phonecall this morning off a mate saying he had just got his landy on the road, and said he wanted to try it out, so off we went for a day out.

Went down to Ellesmere port, just near the Vauxhall plant. didn;t get many pics, got a couple of vids (just uploading now)

Heres the pics

Some young lad came over in this, and went kind of the wrong way over a rut in the mud

and beleive me, it was stuck (still there when we left)

and here he was, a final shot, and how it ended up at the end of the day!

And Ian, forget the Discovery, You need one of these!!!

They're more expensive than Discos, that one looks mega. Wouldn't mind knowing where that is, might check it out when mine is on the road.

You know the road infront of the main gates, just off there, if you go on a sunday you see everyone there.

The best thing about that one, its tax exempt, but with a few modern touches

He works on lorrys, and used to be a panel beater. Still needs a few bits doing to it, mainly a rear crossmember. Just looking at one myself, just pricing up a few bits (mainly a lift kit, and off road tyres) Just got to find the money for it

He got one for that for around £300, hes also got a few spares hanging around, Most of the stuff is second hand, doesnt really need to be new as its probably only going to get destroyed anyway!

Lift on a budget is just springs and dampers. It does knock the geometry out which does in turn affect road manners but mine isn't going to be a daily drive so no matter. You can fix it up with other suspension components none of which I know the names of, hence where the difference in price comes in.

Bad news on his engine though, hope he can source a fix cheap enough.

Hes quite lucky, He knows of someone who works in the local land rover garage, and also knows of a place just around the corner from where he works in kirkby that does parts. Hopefully it will be ready for a few weeks time, Supposed to be having a trip to a place in wales called toms frarm, if anyone has heared of it.

I've heard of Toms Farm but never been. There's a few places if you know where to look. I've done Hill and Ditch in Mouldsworth, Farley Quarry in Much Wenlock and Bala.

Heared of a few of them places but never been.
We used to go a place in leigh, Just off plank lane. But a £30 fine put us off going, also its been blocked as there is a rumor going around that there is a large development going on there.

Nothing there, just turn off the road and go. At the toms farm though, i think its about £10 for the whole day (But you only pay when the farmer catches up with you!)

And fixing it

It's a great hobby. Certainly equally as rewarding as driving fast as you find your limits. With those vehicles you find them way before the car runs out of ability!

As the lad in the shogun found out.

Also if you do get a tax exempt one, It wont be the same spec as that one, You'd be better going for a 1990 one, as there cheap enough now, around £1000-£2500 for a decent one. All they really need are a decent set of tyres and they'll go all day long
