As for MG/Rover, the Engines from the factory are highly restricted, get a decent exhaust system on and they start to liven up alot. but you'll probably find the TF your Mum had was the 135, without the VVC to take it up to 160bhp! add in the factor that a corsa weights in at half as much and it will be faster! over 1/4miles my GSi Nova was faster than ZR160's....but top end there was alot more untill the Head Gasket goes!


Head Gasket thing is a load of toss.

My Dad had a 200Vi, he did about 800 miles a week, owned the same car for 3 years, and nothing went wrong bar 1 sensor.

someone that I used to work with had the headgasket done on his mgf 3 times in a year so not really a load of toss

Rover released some with crap qualityt headgaskets. If they were replaced with the proper revised item they were fine.

Replace the standard gasket with a Landrover metal headgasket..job done
