I've been of cleats/clipless pedals for about 9 months. Best thing I did in terms of freeriding, and ride just as good on flats as I did in cleats.
However, it took a lot of getting used to and was like learning to ride again.
Although, it's the worst decision I made for epic rides in Wales and such.
When I did ride cleats/clipless, I always used Crank Bros Egg Beaters, Mallet C's, or what ever. Totally recommend Crank Bros stuff

i've only done light XC riding in them so far and i'm very impressed. gonna go for a propper ride at the weekend so i'll see how they perform after that.
Ed, the ratchet thing is very cool. i was unsure at first as i thought they would break easy but they seem to be very well made.
