can you get your car re-tested and change it on log book

£93 for 6 months is alot for my little car

also how did they decide the co2 on it anyway???!! mine is apparently 173 or rather thats what it 'must' have been when new right? but did they really test it, or did some idiot doing it decided that day all the cars would be that figure

I was thinking about this the other day, say if you stuck a better CAT in the exhaust or even 2, could you lower the emissions and pay less tax?

I'm guessing they put a bit more thought into it than that. But no, you can't change the engines emissions bracket. Would you be happy to pay more tax if it was putting out more co2 when they tested it?

Manufacturers are set limits by governments, they spend millions developing the engines so they can meet the standards. Your MOT station has these figures and your car has to match/you have to be friendly with your MOT man. Simple.

I like paying £120 or whatever it is for 12 months tax on mine.
