Had a swollen Lymph Gland in my neck for around 5 weeks now. Doctor referred me to a specialist at the hospital who I saw today.
They stuck a needle through my neck into the gland........TWICE........and took cell samples to analyze as well as ultrasounding me.
The long and the short was because i've not been unwell it probably won't be a problem and hopefully it will go down within 2 weeks.
If not they will have to operate and remove the gland entirely for fear of it turning cancerous or becoming cystic
Not one of my better days.

Tiger, what do you mean by 'swollen'?
I've got what I thought was a swollen gland under my arm pit. Its only been there a couple of days, but I can feel a 'lump' which is quite hard. Showed it too my mum this morning and she's freaking a bit 'as mums do' She's nagging me to go to the doctor to get it checked out, and she's got me worried a bit now too
Hope your ok btw, getting needles stuck into your gland sounds nasty

I had something which sounds very similar.
Pretty firm swelling around the lymph nodes on my neck. Came up very quickly but didn't go away after about 2 weeks so I went to the local GPs.
They referred me straight to hospital fearing the worst but my nan paid for me to go private and see a specialist.
Cut a long story short, it cost my nan nearly £3000 to have an operation to find out what it was. I forget the name now, but basically a type of birth defect that fills with fluid and can appear in your late teens/early twenties.
Fucking scary time, I remember being absolutely scared rigid when I had to go back to the hospital to get the results

Oh, and when they stuck the needle in my neck, I fainted in literally two seconds and I'm not at all fazed by needles - must've just touched a nerve or something.

I would worry about it too much Jade - Glands come up when your fighting an infection that you wouldnt know about, I get 'em too from time to time under my armpits, painful eh? Its if it stays swollen for 10 days or so, get em checked out.
When I say swollen, normally your lymph glands in your neck are pea sized and its hard to feel them. The one in my neck is like the tip of your little finger. Cant see it from the outside though, only feel it.

Your right it probably is some sort of infection, I had it on the other side a couple of weeks ago and it disappeared but now its reappeared on this side and its got me a bit panicky
