I've done a Mini Cooper S experience at Rockingham when BMW were based there. It was ok. Very expensive for what we got.
I know a mate who has done a rallying one at Silverstone in an old Escort and loved it.
I'd only go to ones organised by the circuit i.e Silverstone, and wouldn't bother with the Virgin ones or anything.

my dad did one the other weekend was a ferrari and lambo one.
was ok to watch > alot of waiting around to go in the cars though.
basically he got 2 laps driven by instructor to show him the track
3 laps in a ferrari 360
3 laps in a lambo gallardo
and 1 high speed lap driven by some nutcase of an instructor in the new scooby.
personally it seemed alot of money for nothing really especially as depending on which instructr you have as some will make you go slowly and carefully where as some will tell you to put your foot down etc.
but personally id go for a skid pan day

I think that is the general consensus with regard to money.
And I know what you mean about the instructor. I was on the Rockingham inner circuit in a Mini Cooper S. I was told to keep it in 3rd all the time, and I never took it out of 3rd granted it had been some time since I had passed and didn't have access to a car and wasn't that confident, but if I did it now, I'd be down to 2nd and giving it death easily.

I did an 'italian job' themed day as a gift at some airfiled somewhere.
got to do about half an hour in a mini cooper (new one unfortunately), then a demo from an instructor in a cooper S (fucking quick in th erihght hands). after a whi9le we had about 20 mins each in an E-type Jag (awesome), and then about 20mins in a shitty old coach.
was a good day.
it's right what whoever said above about the right instructor etc, but i'm sure they assess your aboilities and urge you to push on relative to what they think your skill level is.
there was a ferarri experience held same place same time, same track, and i lapped at least 2 360's in the mini cooper. I'm sure that's just a confidence thing as anyone can drive a hatchback reasonably quick, but if your left in charge of a ferrari, no doubt you'd be a bit more cautious.
good day. i'd do one again as a gift, but if i was paying, i'd do a proper track day in my own car i think.

I did a have a go at learning to drive in a Mini Cooper S, at Rockingham. That was pricey but was fun at 16.
