With it being law I'm sure the uni have to report it to the Law Society who look down on any sort of dishonesty...

I think the fact that the notes related to answers on the paper it could be fairly serious

Best bet is to start appealing to the relevant tutors

They also seem to be people who don't have a clue how Uni's work. From my own experience at Birmingham (eng), and my missus' experience at Keele (law), they're usually nothing but a bunch of bastards. Admittedly I've never been in this situation, but in general when anything was questioned or queried, there seemed to always a response of "Them's the rules - Like it or lump it", usually with the head of department being a re-incarnation of Adolf.

They have to uphold standards. I'm sure you'd be pissed off if you sat an exam and passed on your own merit and someone got notes in there and achieved the same grade.

depends on the uni, Huddersfield were stupidly soft on it, my mate blatently copied anothers assignment without him knowing, got caught for it and managed to stay on the course and everything.
I imagine that some will be extreme to kicking people off etc.

I believe I can help, being an Exams Officer

Basically they will have to fill in a Malpractice form and send it off to the exam board. She will probably have to write a statement about what has happened and so will the tutor and/or invigilators.

This should be sent off within the next few days and they will then respond as to whether they have decided to disqualify her from the exam.

Sorry to say, most cases they disqualify, they take malpractice VERY seriously, even if it was a total mistake.

I have had kids disqualified just by having a mobile phone/mp3 player in their possession.

yes, blame me!

She won't have to infront of a panel or anything, you collect the evidence and they decide.

Remember this thread?

Well, heres the outcome.

She had to go in front of the vice chancellor for a official warning and said if you ever do it again she'll be out, no questions asked. No docked marks, no re-takes, no nothing

After all this she still got the result she wanted, a 2.1
